First=20 Cut Off

 

The 2008 = session=20 continues at a frantic pace with first cutoff arriving this week. = This=20 means that for Legislation to continue through the Legislative = process it=20 must be voted out of its original committee. Bills that are in the = Health=20 Care Committee must have passed out or they are considered dead = for this=20 session. The House and Senate will now move to floor action where=20 legislation must be voted on by the entire House or Senate and = passed over=20 to the opposite Chamber. If Bills are not voted by a chamber by = the 19th=20 of February they are considered dead for this session.

Menu = Labeling: The House Commerce and Labor committee passed = Legislation that=20 will prevent the King County Labeling standard from being = implemented and=20 will establish a statewide standard that does not require = nutritional=20 information to be on the menu but available somewhere at the = Restaurant.=20 This Legislation will now move to the Floor of the House for a = floor vote=20 and be sent over to the Senate.

House Bill 2422, would have = banned=20 the use of Plastic bottles for water did not pass out of the House = Environmental Committee and is considered dead for this session. = The use=20 of plastics for beverage containers will continue to be an issue = in future=20 legislative session. =
